Why Give Today?
Dartmouth rowers know that when we pull together, the boat gets faster and the load gets lighter. The same magic happens when we give together. And never more so than today. That’s because two generous cornerstone donors will match (together), on a dollar-for-dollar basis, all gifts made in 2026 to Drive 150, up to a total match of $200,000. With these matching funds and your help, we can raise up to $400,000.
GGR plans to give these pooled funds to the Friends of Dartmouth Rowing (FODR) to demonstrate our collective support for—and commitment to—the D150 program.
Better yet, with cornerstone donor funding, GGR has already contributed an initial, separate $100,000 to FODR as part of this fundraising drive. That means this effort can provide up to $500,000 to Dartmouth Rowing.

Giving through a Donor Advised Fund
Recommend a grant to Green Granite Rowing Inc., EIN 99-4577844, at the mailing address above. Then send us a quick email at gifts@D150.org with your Gift Notification Form attached (or the same information in the email itself) — DAF sponsors sometimes omit the donor's name from the grant check, and we want to be able to thank you and request your Dartmouth recognition. DAF grants count toward the cornerstone match when received. Please note that tax rules require GGR to send the gift acknowledgment to your DAF sponsor rather than to you; your sponsor provides your tax documentation.
Giving Securities
To give stock or other marketable securities, email gifts@D150.org and we will send you DTC transfer instructions for GGR's brokerage account. Please also tell us the security, the number of shares, your broker, and the approximate transfer date — securities transfers arrive without the donor's name, and this is how we connect the gift to you. Two notes: GGR's policy is to sell donated securities promptly upon receipt, and IRS rules mean our acknowledgment will describe your gift by shares and security name rather than dollar value (your deduction is determined by you and your tax advisor). Transfers can take one to two weeks.
Giving from Your IRA (Qualified Charitable Distributions)
If you are 70½ or older, you can give directly from your IRA through a Qualified Charitable Distribution — often the most tax-efficient way to give, since the distribution counts toward any required minimum distribution and is excluded from your taxable income. Ask your IRA custodian to send the distribution to Green Granite Rowing Inc. (EIN 99-4577844) at the mailing address above, and send us a Gift Notification Form so we can identify the check when it arrives. Please consult your tax advisor about your situation.
Pledges
Prefer to commit now and give over time? A written pledge of $10,000 or more, with payment by May 31, 2027, counts toward the match — and multi-year pledges are welcome. Email gifts@D150.org.
Employer Matching Gifts
Many employers match charitable gifts — and employer matches count toward the match, doubling twice. (Your $2,500 + your employer's $2,500 + the cornerstone match = $10,000 for FODR.) Your employer's portal will ask for our legal name (Green Granite Rowing Inc.), EIN (99-4577844), and mailing address (Green Granite Rowing Inc. Attention: Chad Brown, Assistant Treasurer 5433 La Sierra Drive Dallas, Texas 75231). One tip: submit your match request soon after you give — employer matches can take months to arrive, and only funds received during the match period qualify. The Small Print About GGR’s Inaugural Fundraising Drive
“Drive 150”
Please review these important details about GGR’s inaugural fundraising drive (“Drive 150”):
The match. Together, two generous cornerstone donors will match, on a dollar-for-dollar basis, gifts received by GGR between January 1 and December 31, 2026 (other than their own gifts), up to a combined total of $200,000, meaning up to $400,000 to support D150. Including the separate $100,000 already provided to Friends of Dartmouth Rowing through GGR, total support from this effort could reach $500,000. Qualifying written pledges of $10,000 or more (with payment due by May 31, 2027) also count toward the match. One timing note: a gift counts toward the match when GGR receives it, not when it’s sent — so please allow extra time if you’re mailing a check, making a donation from an IRA, transferring securities, or recommending a DAF gift..
Where the money goes. GGR plans to make one or more bulk donations to Dartmouth, designated for the Friends of Dartmouth Rowing (FODR). Unlike GGR, FODR is not a separate legal entity from Dartmouth. GGR expects to make its grant(s) within the College’s fiscal year ending June 30, 2027. If the drive exceeds its goal, the GGR board may set aside some or all of the excess in a rainy-day fund to provide future support for D150.
Under certain circumstances (e.g., Dartmouth again eliminates the D150 program), GGR may use or direct funds not already given to Dartmouth—including, if applicable, funds from your gift—for other charitable purposes rather than provide the funds to FODR. We don’t expect that to happen but no one is forgetting the fiasco of 2020—that’s what led us to get organized and establish GGR in the first place.
Taxes. Green Granite Rowing Inc. is a nonprofit organization exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, EIN 99-4577844. Gifts are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law, at the time given to GGR. GGR does not provide goods or services in exchange for gifts, and any recognition by Dartmouth of your gift confers no additional tax benefit. You will receive a written acknowledgment from GGR for your records. GGR does not provide tax, legal, or financial advice; please consult your own advisors.
Fees. GGR pays the payment processing fees on online gifts, and your acknowledgement from GGR reflects the full amount of your gift. Because those fees come out of GGR’s funds, amounts granted to Dartmouth—and any Dartmouth recognition credit—are net of them. In most cases, fees are far lower for ACH than for credit cards: on a $1,000 gift, ACH costs GGR about $6.50 at most (0.8% capped at $5, plus a one-time $1.50 bank-connection fee the first time a bank account is used), while a credit card can cost about $22-35. For gifts of $100 or more, please consider ACH.
Dartmouth recognition. If you indicate that you would like Dartmouth to recognize your gift, GGR will request that the College do so when you gift is passed along. Because GGR bundles gifts before granting them, there will be a lag between when you give to GGR and when Dartmouth records the credit. The tax deduction, by contrast, arises when you give to GGR. When making a request that the College recognize your gift, GGR will share information with Dartmouth, including your name, gift amount (net of payment processing fees paid by GGR), email, mailing address, class year (if applicable), the name and class year of your son or daughter (if applicable), the squad you and/or your son or daughter rowed on (if applicable), and the fact that you are a D150 supporter. GGR may share donor information with Dartmouth as described in our Gift Acceptance Policy.
Recognition by GGR, and anonymity. Unless you tell us otherwise, GGR may recognize you publicly as a donor — in donor lists, on this website, and in communications with the D150 community. If you would prefer that your gift be anonymous, check the box on the donation form or email gifts@D150.org, and we will use reasonable efforts to honor that. We can’t guarantee anonymity in every circumstance — for example, the IRS requires charities to maintain, and in some cases report, information about substantial donors. Please also note that anonymity and Dartmouth recognition credit don’t go together: Dartmouth needs your name in order to record the credit.
Your information. GGR does not sell or trade donor information. We use it to acknowledge and steward your gift, administer our fundraising programs, meet our tax and reporting obligations, and coordinate our charitable support of D150 with Dartmouth.
Directing your gift. Gifts to this drive support D150 and Dartmouth rowing in general through GGR’s grants to FODR. If you would like to give for a different purpose, please email us first at gifts@D150.org.
