Dick Grossman
Dick came to Hanover in 1975 after a storied career coxing at Harvard and the US National Team. He initially signed on as an assistant to heavyweight Head Coach Peter V.W. Gardner, who at that time coached both the heavies and the lights. Given the complexities of two different schedules, the decision was made to appoint Dick as the first lightweight head coach, right after his freshman heavies had won the Eastern Sprints title in 1978.
Dick coached the lightweights at Dartmouth from 1979-2005, including the first two D150 boats to win the EARC varsity titles in 1993 and 1994. He also won Dartmouth’s first Jope Cup in 1993.
